 Custom Acrylic Portraits

Each of my portraits is lovingly hand drawn and painted in acrylic—not a painting-enhanced digital image—for a characterful finish that you can see in the color, texture, and sense of personality in the piece.

Below, you’ll find general guidelines and pricing information, but if you don’t see what you’re looking for here or want to clarify anything further, I am also available to discuss more specialized projects!

Sizes and Pricing:

6x6 - $110 (plus shipping)

8x10 – $150 (plus shipping)

9x12 – $175 (plus shipping)

16x20 — $310 (plus shipping)

As a default, canvases will be gallery-wrapped, with a 7/8” depth. Alternative canvas sizes and depths are available, price dependent.

Number of subjects:

A standard portrait will include either a solo subject (human or animal), or a duo of subjects within the same frame. If you’d prefer a painting involving more subjects (ex: a family portrait), an additional cost may be added depending on the number of individuals, the level of detail you’re seeking, and the size of your piece—these will be discussed at the time of commission.

Background:

Simple color background—standard price

This style will feature a 1-2 color background chosen to highlight the central focus of your piece and is a great option to allow your subject to shine.

Examples:

Traditional or pattern background—+$20

A traditional background will display elements from the original photo, such as furniture, flowers, or the landscape, rendered in a style that will complete the look of your portrait without distracting from the central figure(s) of the piece.  Alternatively, a simple repeated pattern (such as a geometric print) can be used to replace the background of your subject for a whimsical, pop art style.

Photo recommendations:

The type of photo you provide will dictate the style of portrait that can be created. Well-lit, in-focus, high-resolution photos are ideal for those seeking a detailed portrait, as they allow for a more accurate likeness to be rendered. Photos with lower resolution, such as vintage photos, allow for a looser, more emotive feel.

I want to help create a painting that will bring you joy, so if you’re struggling to choose between photos or have concerns about photo quality, please feel free to send more than one image—we can discuss the best choice for the style you’re hoping for together!

Timing:

How long it takes to create your unique, hand-painted piece will vary depending on a number of factors, including the size of the commission, the volume of other commissions currently underway, and shipping considerations.

I always strive to ensure you receive a top quality piece as swiftly as possible. Typically, a piece will be completed within 2-4 weeks of an accepted commission and sent via ground shipping, however I will provide you with a more specific timing window once your request has been received. Rush commissions may be accepted on a limited basis for an additional cost; rush shipping will also be available at additional cost.

What to expect next:

After your commission request and photo have been received, I will be in contact to discuss further details and explore any specific preferences or additional considerations you have for your piece. PLEASE NOTE: You should not consider your commission accepted until you receive a response and payment details from me.
